My Daily Routine During Covid

Launching my website with an underlying theme of health and wellness, during a global pandemic, seems like the right thing to do. I have been on lockdown now for almost 7 weeks with my husband. Both of us are furloughed and have another month to shelter in place. We are working hard to stay in good spirits. But, as we have all been experiencing during this moment in time, it’s not easy. And, giving yourself grace and space during this time is so necessary. I have had a number of ugly moments, and I gotta say, I’ve felt extremely lost and helpless a lot of the time. My strongest anchors are self care, holistic health, and daily routine. Those anchors have kept me steady so I can climb out of the helpless hole.

I want to inspire you and help you in any way I can to develop these practices for yourself. I want you to know that you can be a total beginner, and learn new things to help your body deal with these challenges. The world is unpredictable right now, to say the least. We don’t know which way is up or which way is down. The future is fuzzy and muddled. Yet, even in the thick of that mud, it’s our job to show up for ourselves, and the people we care about. I’m showing up for myself with a couple simple things everyday. Nothing ever really works exactly how I plan, but this is a basic outline of what I’ve been doing on a daily basis to keep a baseline intact. When I stray, and veer off the path, I know I can jump right back on, and in a couple days I can feel better.

The Breakdown:

1. Tongue Scrape

2. Dry Brush

3. Exercise

I like Yoga, P.Volve, or just a nice walk or jog in the fresh air. Pelaton is offering a free 90 day trial of their app, and they have heaps of classes that don’t require you to own a spin bike or gear at all. Many yoga teachers are also offering classes on Zoom for a suggested donation or on a sliding scale.

4. Eat fresh Veggies and Fruit

I have been indulging in sugar a lot. I notice when I make a point to crowd out the desserts with a lot of veggies, I simply don’t eat as much. I also try to incorporate greens into every meal including breakfast.

5. Meditate

Again, practitioners are offering guided practices for free, on a sliding scale, or for a suggested donation.

6. Drink warm water and herbal tea

I alternate throughout the day.

7. Take supplements

Orenda makes an incredible line of products, unparalleled elsewhere in the vast supplement world. Their IMMUNE SUPPORT is one such product, and right now we all need extra immune support. Another on my top three list is Orenda’s probiotic EAZE. And, finally, for stress reduction their O-TROPIN spray is the best out there.

8. Treat yourself with compassion

When I stray and I’m feeling icky, anxious, and unable to relax I remind myself that it has a direct link to what I’m doing with my day, and what I’m consuming. Exploring how I got off track instead of harshly judging myself is the first step. Then, I forgive myself for having those feelings, and I get back into the routine. One. Step. At. A. Time.
